Two Years Later

And I am back to this blog!
I won't be a prakikant again, hopefully, since I have spent the last few years praktikanting around, but I will be back in Sweden! Anyone living North of the mouth of the Hudson River has heard (many times over) that I am moving to Uppsala to live with my boyfriend, Erik.

I have been watching lots of Swedish gardening and children's shows (and one children's show about a garden) on svtplay.se to prepare, since they have closed captioning in Swedish, which helps me hear and see the words at the same time. However, woman cannot learn a language through Alfons Åberg alone, and I won't even have a garden or be seven years old while I'm there, so I will be glad to take lessons in Swedish as a second language provided to me by the Swedish government. I don't know much more about it right now, but it is on the list of things to figure out my first week.

I've also made a lot of Swedish meatballs in preparation, but that also feels...limited, and I can't wait to stock up on cookbooks and learn from Erik's mamma. And plant a little bookshelf herb garden on the patio!

We have a whole list of things that we would like to find, and it is so exciting to think about moving into this space with Erik (and his younger brother, Carl). So many of my friends have recently made this transition, and I am happy to be joining the ranks.

I will pick up my button research that was put on hold for the Master's degree (Graduation was May 18!!), and hopefully still write a successful chapter for the museum's publication, if all goes well.

But follow me here, hopefully with more and more Swedish translation as the weeks go by.

And feel free to read through the pages from two years ago, but please remember to take them with a grain of salt--I was but a young lass of 23, wide-eyed at the thought of living in this beautiful country that I feel I understand so much better now. MY country!

Until next time!
